WES SCANTLIN Said He 'Went Through Leaps And Bounds' To Release New PUDDLE OF MUDD Album

In a recent interview with Meltdown of the Detroit radio station 101 WRIF, PUDDLE OF MUDD frontman Wes Scantlin spoke about the steps he took to release the band’s first studio album in ten years, “Welcome To Galvania”. After the arrival of 2009’s “Volume 4: Songs In The Key Of Love And Hate”, Scantlin endured his share of issues with both substance abuse and the legal system. Last year, Scantlin said that he finally got his life together after years of legal troubles, canceled or disrupted shows and arrests for disorderly or drunken behavior.

“I did everything I could to get this album out,” he said. “I went through leaps and bounds. It finally got out there. I didn’t stop writing music. I was constantly writing and recording. It’s just a lot of weird switches and stuff that happened, and a lot of different scenarios that happened. But, a lot of them turned out to be for the greater good.”

When asked what those changes in his life entailed, Wes added: “Just having to get to take a big, big huge break and clean myself up and get back to being the Wes that I need to be.”

Scantlin also discussed whether he found motivation from the various people who have been bringing down his personal life and career. “It’s like a change of playground with your playmates,” he said. “Basically, all the playground and all the playmates, they’ve all been ‘Operation Sweep And Clear Engage’, and it’s soon to be complete. You got to ditch them and vaporize yourself and just fade away into a foggy mist in the abyss of goodbye-ness.”

“Welcome To Galvania” will be released on September 13 via Pavement Entertainment. The disc consists of ten new tracks and was produced by Cameron Webb (ALKALINE TRIO, DISTURBED, MOTÖRHEAD).

PUDDLE OF MUDD broke into the mainstream with 2001’s “Come Clean”, which yielded three hits — “Control”, “Blurry” and “She Hates Me”.
